The members involved were also using an Automated License Plate Recognition system to monitor passing traffic. Members attempted to stop a vehicle identified by the system as being associated with a prohibited driver. The vehicle failed to stop and fled. Two unmarked agency vehicles attempted to catch up to the fleeing vehicle but discontinued their attempts shortly thereafter. Within moments, the fleeing vehicle failed to stop at a stop sign at an intersection and collided with a semi-trailer truck. This collision caused the trailer to collide with a third vehicle driven by the affected person. The affected person sustained fatal injuries as a result of the collision and died at the scene.
