The MPCC initiated a Public Interest Investigation on August 3, 2021, into a Military Police Unit's handling of an investigation involving one of its own officers who was allegedly intoxicated while attempting to drive with children. Complaints alleged that unit leadership altered investigative reports, directed subordinates not to report the incident, suppressed charges, and improperly gave special treatment to the officer involved. Both interference and conduct complaints were filed with the MPCC in April and July 2021.
