A public interest investigation was conducted into the use of a conducted energy weapon in the Northwest Territories. The investigation followed a complaint respecting an incident at a youth facility. On a date in 2007, a constable attended the facility in response to a call for assistance with a female inmate. The constable was directed to a classroom where youth officers had used force to take the inmate to the ground. The inmate was lying face down with her hands cuffed behind her back. The investigation was conducted under the RCMP Act and a report was issued following a public interest investigation.
