A complaint was filed with the Military Police Complaints Commission in January 2007 alleging that Canadian Forces Military Police failed to investigate possible detainee abuse in Afghanistan. Three detainees held at Kandahar Airfield in April 2006 were found to have injuries including contusions, abrasions, and lacerations, yet Military Police allegedly failed to ensure medical examination, preserve evidence, and properly document the detainees' conditions before transferring them to Afghan National Police custody. The complaint requested a public interest investigation and hearing under s. 250.38(1) of the National Defence Act.
