In the afternoon, a person was apprehended by an officer under the Mental Health Act. Police had been called to a building in Ottawa about a male behaving strangely. The officer arrived to find the person crying uncontrollably and muttering to himself, making references to wanting to die. The officer took the person into custody without incident. At a hospital, the person became increasingly agitated and tried to leave. After being warned to calm down, the person was grabbed by the officers, struggled, and fell face first, fracturing their nose in the process. The person was subsequently handcuffed and restrained to a hospital bed.
