In the afternoon, a person was apprehended by the subject officer under the Mental Health Act. Police had been called to a location in Ottawa about a male behaving strangely. The officer arrived to find the person crying uncontrollably and muttering to himself, making references to wanting to harm himself. The officer took the person into custody without incident. At the hospital, the person became increasingly agitated and tried to leave. After being warned to calm down, the person continued to be belligerent, and the officers attempted to control them. The person struggled, and the officers tried to force them to the floor, resulting in the person falling and fracturing their nose. The person was subsequently restrained.
